All Bleached Out

Teenage girls think its a good idea to bleach their hair to death, when really they don't know they harm, or the bad look behind it. If you are naturally not a blond and decide to bleach your hair to make you one, it could look unnatural for your skin tone. In addition to that, sooner or later your dark roots are going to show through causing an unsightly scene. According to an article from Livestrong.com " Bleaching your hair strips the moisture from each strand. It also causes discoloration of the scalp ,and breakage in the cuticle causing it to fall out." So why do girls bleach their hair? No one in society has an explanation on why girls do this, but if you stay your natural color, or just add a few highlights its a much more safe and all around better looking solution.

Well you do now! In the past few years watches have been so outdated for teens to be wearing up and down the school halls... until now! The bigger the better i guess is the theme for accessories for teens these days. Watches are becoming enormous, and stylish? According to Sam, a senior high school student from upstate New York " I love my new watch, i would've never considered wearing a watch until i got one for my birthday and i absolutely love it! it's so much easier to just look down at the time instead of trying to find my cell phone... or a clock." I do not own a watch, but we'd love to hear our readers feedback!

The Old is Here to Stay

Breakout your old jean jackets ladies and gentlemen! Jean jackets are back and style and people everywhere are wearing them! They go perfect with any outfit. I personally love to pair a cute jean jacket with a sundress if its a little brisk outside, but these jackets are perfect for every season, day or night, dress it up, or dress it down. Most men get the idea that jean jackets are more of a feminine piece of attire, but some of the hottest stars in the media, such as Zac Efron are wearing jean jackets and lookin' good while doing it! Emily G., a high school junior from upstate New York states, " Jean jackets are perfect because you can wear a summery outfit when it's colder and your still comfortable!" So a heads up for this summer, go out and get a jacket!

Victoria's Secrets is not just for undergarments any more! They have opened a whole new line of clothing called PINK. This line of clothing became popular about four years ago, but recently has been exploding with a  new line of yoga pants and yoga capri's with cute waistband patterns! Everywhere you look, girls are wearing these yoga pants because their comfy and casually stylish! As the weather heats up, you don't want to be wearing pants all day long, so fortunately PINK has made capri yogas which are a must have!The all time favorite PINK item of clothing is of course the zip - up sweatshirts with the famous phrase" Love Pink". Although summer is here and it's too hot for a sweatshirt, they are great to just throw on over a bathing suit or with a pair of shorts on a cool summer night! Some of their items may seem a  little pricey, but you'll fall in love and the quality is great!

Hoops I did it again

No more little stud earrings, or cute little hoops. Hoop earrings have become large enough now to wear as  a bracelet.. is this okay? i think big hoop earings can make or break an outfit! If you get them too big, and wear with the wrong clothing people can get the wrong message about you, so be careful how you want yourself perceived! But overall, big hoops and medallion earings are HUGE in fashion today and i suggest in investing in a pair. Also take note as to how heavy the earing is, because too heave could tear your earlobe, which you most definitely do not want!

What's on your pod?

Teenagers in America have grown up listening to bubble gum pop music, boy bands, and trashy rap. This music is constantly bought on i-tunes and uploaded onto teens ipods.But recently, country music has taken the music media by storm. New, younger country stars are coming onto the music scene and writing songs with a deeper meaning than any of Lil Wayne's or the Jonas Brothers songs have, and these songs are meant for and relate to teens! Country music is pure and talks about the hardships and excitements of life. Taylor Swift, a country/pop crossover sensation has made country cool! Girls all around the world are humming her songs and take each of them to heart because she is so young that her personal stories relate to any girl growing up around the world! Also, as of May 25th, 2011; Scotty McCreery is the new winner of American Idol, and just happens to be all country! Scotty is a teen heart throb and i believe will convert more young adults everywhere to listening to country! It seems that a whole new generation of country music listeners will erupt! I personally love country music, and I'd take it any day over a one hit wonder rap song.

GLAD to feet you!

Gladiator sandals are the new "in" this summer for your feet. These sandals have many straps that criss cross across  your feet and up to your ankle and sometimes farther. I personally do not own a pair of these sandals because i believe they make you look shorter, but many teenage girls fill the school hallways with these leading the way. Bling rings, or fashion rings are an inexpensive and highly fashionable alternative to complete your outfit! Bargain stores like JCPenny, Boscovs, Clair's, and Target all sell these rings for about 15 dollars or less! Be careful though, you donut want rings that are too big. If a ring pans out over more than two of your fingers, its too big! The point of these rings is to accentuate and contrast to your outfits, not to take over your hand! These rings virtually come in any color, shape, style, and print to fit your fashion needs.

Snap, Crackle, Shatter?

Fashion these days isn't just about the clothes or shoes you wear. Fashion is everything you wear from head to toe. Including your nail polish. Katy Perry, a multi platinum pop singer just recently came out with this new polish called Shatter. First you put on any base color you choose such as pink or blue, or even sparkles! Then paint this shatter polish on over your whole nail and it just disappears! I personally have tried this polish and i was amazed at how it just goes away to appear to have a shattered glass effect! You'll always find people commenting on your nail polish.Try it for your self and i guarantee you will be baffled. OPI (the nail polish brand) has just recently cam out with every color as opposed to just silver or black, so they virtually go with any outfit you choose!

A recent spring trend has been literally blossoming off the top of girl's heads everywhere. Flower headbands are the latest thing when you're having a "blah" hair day. It's almost impossible to go anywhere without seeing people constantly using their cell phones. Recently, it has become extremely difficult to purchase a cell phone in which you don't have to pay a monthly fee of atleast $20.00 (depending on what data plan you have) for internet. Two of the most popular kinds of phones are the Blackberry and the Apple Iphone. But which one is better? They are both very complex devices that do similar things, it just depends on the type of use you're going to put into it. For your belt loops or for your your sneakers? Or maybe, both!? The use of a shoe lace as a belt is a new trend that developed in male teens in the past five years. This look is usually sported by the "skater" stereotype teens, but others have quickly adapted the same look for their style! But the most common asked question: Does a shoelace really hold up your pants? Chris, a senior from an upstate New York school states, " I've used a shoelace as a belt before and there is really no supposed unless you tie it really tight, but that defeats the look." Tanning bed or death bed?

As prom season approaches, many teenage girls (including myself)are hitting the tanning salons to get darker faster.But how safe is tanning? Not safe at all. Tanning beds have been recently identified as a carcinogen which is a cancer-causing agent. Frequent usage can damage and thin the skin so it is more difficult to heal. Indoor tanning is also linked to melanoma (a form of skin cancer) and can cause disfigurement. According to DERMA Doctor, people who frequently use tanning beds experience earlier aging of the skin, wrinkles, and a thick, leather-like texture. Frequent tanning can also turn into a serious addiction. I personally am not against tanning if it's done in moderation, but I do believe it can become a serious problem. I guess when it comes to indoor tanning, consider the facts and decide for yourself.

Is "tweeting" the new in? Twitter, the latest in social networking sites has lately been growing in popularity from celebrities to highschool students. Facebook and Twitter have distinct differences, but is one better than the other? While facebook allows users to have an entire page with information, wallposts, pictures, and whatever else... Twitter is simply a username and allows "tweeters" to post messages and thoughts throughout the day. On both sites you can associate with whom you want... (on Twitter it's called following and on Facebook it's called friending). According to the Huffington post, Facebook is still racking in more user time than Twitter is. But with funny celebrity tweets coming from Charlie Sheen and star of Tosh.0 Daniel Tosh, who knows how long Facebook will keep the crown. Watch out Mark Zuckerberg!

J-Lo trying to make a comeback?

Jennifer Lopez is a name that most people have heard before, but most people haven't heard her voice on the radio in a few years. Recently in 2011 it seems that she's trying to make a comeback. But my question, is she trying too hard? Her new single "On the floor" featuring Pitbull was released in February and remains number 8 on the top charts Itunes singles. "On the floor" is a catchy, upbeat dance tune with the typical random spanish rap lines thrown in by Pitbull. Although it's new and catchy, it's nothing special and J-Lo had her 15 minutes 15 years ago....Has 41 year old Jenny from the block lost her touch? You decide.

Howdy Yall !

Everyone's mad for plaid! The biggest stars in the media, your down home town, to your local super market everyone is wearing plaid! Plaid shirts made their big break in stores everywhere about four years ago and have been ever present since! These shirts come in every color combination imaginable, most in cotton, and some with the comfort of flannel. If you asked a stereotypical teenager, i will guarantee you they will own or have owned at some point in time a plaid shirt! Plus, the other great thing about these shirts is that they virtually go with anything, jeans no matter the color, your favorite pair of shorts, or a cute denim mini skirt! So the lesson learned here? Go invest in a plaid shirt, its worth the 20 bucks.

Are You Confused?

Is it summer or is it winter? As we make our way into the early weeks of spring, people often wonder when its time to turn in your favorite pair of cozy boots and sweaters and break out the sandals and shorts. I say, once you turn over to flip flops, there is no switching back to boots till the fall! I think the look of boots and a jean skirt is cute, but what i don't like is jean shorts and boots. I don't know why but it appears as if your puzzled and not sure the season. These two are polar opposites and each pertain to a particular season. Some people can definitely pull it off, i think its all about the way you present it. But if you're considering switching over to your spring/summer collection choose your outfits wisely! Jumpsuits get a second chance with rompers.....

When someone says jump suit we usually imagine a fifty something woman in a pea green velour sweatsuit browsing price chopper after hitting the gym.... atleast I do. Yet last spring and summer something cute, stylish and all in one piece came on the scene. Rompers are a shorter version of the not always attractive jump suit. They're usually strapless or tank top style with connected shorts at the bottom. Rompers are kindof similiar to a dress just with shorts instead of a skirt. What's the point you ask?! Just something new to either hit or miss with this spring. Whether you rock them or not so much... they're dressy but casual and always make a statement.
