Tanning bed or death bed?

As prom season approaches, many teenage girls (including myself)are hitting the tanning salons to get darker faster. But how safe is tanning? Not safe at all. Tanning beds have been recently identified as a carcinogen which is a cancer-causing agent. Frequent usage can damage and thin the skin so it is more difficult to heal. Indoor tanning is also linked to melanoma (a form of skin cancer) and can cause disfigurement. According to DERMA Doctor, people who frequently use tanning beds experience earlier aging of the skin, wrinkles, and a thick, leather-like texture. Frequent tanning can also turn into a serious addiction. I personally am not against tanning if it's done in moderation, but I do believe it can become a serious problem. I guess when it comes to indoor tanning, consider the facts and decide for yourself.
